Bare Minerals Mineral Foundation Review

Bare Minerals Mineral Foundation Review

I've owned this foundation for several years, and a few years back I wore this foundation as my every day foundation. A mineral foundation is a very good option, especially in the warmer seasons. They last all day on the skin, and give great coverage without the heaviness of a liquid or cream foundation.

The Bare Minerals website describes this foundation as:
Our award-winning mineral foundation gives you all the flawless coverage you want with a no-makeup look and feel that lasts up to eight hours. The creamy minerals diminish the appearance of imperfections without drying out skin. Our groundbreaking formula is clinically proven to promote clearer, healthier-looking skin.
Formulated without parabens, binders, fillers, or synthetic chemicals.
I would say that this mineral foundation definitely last a good 8 hours or more on the skin. The texture of this foundation looks like a powder but it blends into the skin unlike a powder can, it's not drying or cakey at all. You cannot feel it on the skin and it leaves your skin with a natural finish.

This foundation comes in to formulas: original and matte. The original formula is for normal to dry skin, while the matte formula caters to oily skin. But I've found from my experience using both formulas with my combination skin that both formulas can work on  oily skin. I've found no problem with oiliness with the original
formula, or the matte. If your skin is dry I would suggest the original formula, as I don't have particularly dry skin, I cannot say how the matte formula would work on dry skin. The original formula doesn't set on the skin as a very matte finish like the matte formula, but neither formula sets to a dewy finish.

This foundation comes in 20 shades with both warm and cool undertones. Finding the perfect shade for your skin tone isn't difficult at all.

You can refer to this chart to help you find your basic shade.

This mineral foundation is formulated without  parabens, binders,
fillers, or synthetic chemicals. It's better for the health of the skin and can even help keep the skin clearer if you're an acne sufferer. But be aware that this foundation contains bismuth oxychloride which some people can be sensitive to. If you have sensitive skin, be aware of that and do a skin test before wearing this foundation to avoid any itching or blemishes.

Overall I would say that this is a fantastic mineral foundation. The coverage can be applied light and built up to pretty full coverage in the areas you need more coverage. It lasts incredibly long on the skin and wears beautifully and comfortably. It retails for $27.00 per jar but lasts a good amount of time, you won't go through this very quickly. The finish this foundation leaves is a natural finish, it's
very beautiful. This foundation can last through sweating, humidity, etc.  I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good quality mineral foundation, I think it is one of the best out there! I hope this was helpful! Leave any comments or questions below! :) thanks!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

I have owned and used this product for the past few months. I had heard many great things about the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow products and I have to say I wasn't disappointed with this product.
This brow pencil comes in 7 different shades, ranging from light to very dark. Regardless of whatever hair color you have there will most likely be a shade for you.

As you can see from the photo, the retractable pencil product is very fine so that you can mimic brow hairs very easily when applying.
The Anastasia Beverly Hills website describes this product as:

Ideal for filling in sparse brows with the ultimate natural look, Anastasia’s ultra-fine pencil tip mimics the appearance of tiny hairs. The dual-ended mechanical pencil and essential Spooley Brush make creating a fuller brow look not only easy, but convenient too. The mechanical lead saves product and never needs sharpening, and the built-in spooley brush on the opposite end brushes and blends in Brow Wiz to natural brows seamlessly.

This is the best eyebrow pencil I have used to date. The formula is waterproof and long wearing, and never smudges. The spooled brush on the opposite end of the pencil is perfect for blending in the product and making it look as natural as possible.

This brow pencil retails for $21.00 and can be purchased online at the Beverly Hills website, which is: http://www.anastasia.net/

You can also find this in Ulta or Sephora, and can also order online through their online stores.
I recommend this to anyone who wants perfectly shaped, long wearing brows!

Revlon Colorstay Whipped Review

Revlon Colorstay Whipped Review

I have owned and tested this foundation now for the past few months. After being a big fan of the regular Revlon Colorstay foundation, I decided to give the whipped version a try.

Revlon describes this foundation as:

Finally, truly decadent makeup offers ultimate performance. The mousse-like texture feels like silk on your skin. And, the time release formula balances skin for a flawless look. All day flexible wear without flaking, caking or feeling heavy.

It comes in 16 shades and is described as having a matte finish and 24 hour wear.
I found the prices for this foundation range anywhere from the 10-14 dollar range. Depending on  where you purchase it.
It comes in a glass jar packaging with a plastic lid that screws into place. The jar contains 0.8 fluid ounces. Which is only slightly less than most foundations which contain 1 fluid ounce.

The color I chose was Sand Beige
Here are some swatches with flash photography and in natural lighting :

Color selection can be quite difficult. In stores the jars are sealed and the thick glass packaging can distort the color. I suggest trying a few shades and returning the ones you cannot use.

The consistency of this foundation is really interesting. It definitely has a whipped texture, but when you spread it on the skin it almost feels like a silicone primer. It blends easily and beautifully. I've found that using a flat top synthetic brush or my fingers both apply the foundation well and without any trouble.

The finish of this foundation, although is said to be matte, is more of a satin finish or demi-matte finish. It's definitely not a dewy foundation but it isn't a flat matte finish. The finish mimics natural skin very well.

This foundation is said to last on the skin for 24 hours. I cannot say that I've worn it that long. But I've worn this foundation a good 8-10 hours and it lasted quite well, with little to no signs of wear.

The coverage of this foundation is medium to full. It's definitely build-able coverage. You can sheer it out for a light coverage or layer it for full coverage.

Overall I would recommend this foundation as a great drugstore option. It has great coverage, lasts all day, and gives the skin a beautiful finish.  It is quickly becoming one of my favorite foundations and I prefer it over many of my high end foundations.  So if you're looking for a good quality, affordable foundation, give this a try! :)
